I've got a neon 03 se , the key come out of the ignition with the car on and with the key out of the ignition Im able to turn the steering wheel is this normal?? I've checked the VIN number but it's not stolen im suppose to be gettin the title Monday.

 

A buddy of mine had a car that did the same thing ... I'm probably wrong but I think there was something wrong with the internals of the cylinder ...

 

The lock cylinder is just worn down. Also there is no steering wheel locks in these cars so you can turn the wheel whenever you want.

Mine does it too. I like it. I can leave it running, and take the key out, lock it, go in the store when it is cold out. I belive all ford escorts had ignitions that could be started with any ford key after they got over 100,000 miles. At least all 4 of mine did.

Me too sounds pretty cool would love to take my key out while cars running and lock her.
