rear brake swap
im looking to do a drum to disc conversion on a 2000 neon could anyone give me direction on what cars to look for in junk yards, or web sites that could help me out. ive been lookin for weeks and got no where. thanks
and when you do the swap i will save you alot of headache.... the knuckles are the same from disk to drum, so just disasemble the disks, and put just the backing plates and rotors calipers exc on.... saves you a TON of time and headache...
good luck

thanks for the direction. Now is to find the parts. by any chance do you guys know if older neons, or even pt cruisers have same bolt patterns? With the junk yards around here most neons are drums, and i cant even find a NEW conversion kit on any website. Im really not trying to go new tho. unfortunately im short on funds

"Most cars have front disc/rear drum, which is perfectly fine for all but roadracing use, where heat buildup is a concern. Rear discs do brake somewhat better; however, they are about 16 pounds heavier. Since the rear wheels only do about 20% of the braking, the performance difference between disc and drum is minimized." -from neonfaq
When I read your post I thought of this. Just throwin it out there as a FYI. If you're dead set on doing the conversion, there's a lot of good info here.

its not really for performance as convience (sorry my spelling is horrid) I hate doing drum brakes and with the srt4 rims i have on it....it just doesnt look right and it seems every time i do my brakes something wrong.
first gen neons with disk brakes can be swapped also, but those are also hard to come by.
as stated above disks are heavier rotating mass. but the look factor is 100x better looking..
