Exclamation Will these tires fit '03 SXT?? Awesome deal I don't want to pass up

I have an opportunity to get 5 wheels AND tires with 95% tread left - the guy is desperate to get rid of these and the price he's asking is cheap. This is all the guy mentions:

They were on a Toyota & an Audi, 5x100 bolt pattern, 18x?? (doesn't say width, my guess is 18x8) - tires are 225/45/18. I read on srtforums that 225/40 is the ideal size in 18" - but on my stock 2003 SXT (OEM suspension, rear drums, etc.) will I have ANY problems with clearance, rubbing, etc? I'm not used to dealing with vehicles with stock 14" wheels...can a Neon handle 18" comfortably?

If someone knows, the faster you can respond would be great! I'd really appreciate it - if this will work out, I don't want this deal to get away.

Thank you!

if you get some spacers I think they would work with no problem. Im thinking about running with some 18s also. Yeah I know alot of neons non srts that run with some 18s some with spacers and some without.

i have the srt4 rims on mine with the stock tires that came with them. i believe they are 17in and the only issue i have is on the front. hard turns in either direction and they rub the plastic wheel well. spacers fixed the issue.

I wouldn't count on them fitting. The SRT 17x7 wheels (I believe that's the size) with SRT struts won't fit a 225 IIRC. I don't see a bigger and wider wheel/tire than that fitting a non-SRT suspension. I could be wrong; I'm just going off of memory on the sizes of everything.

I would go over to cardomain look for neons that have 18s and look at the tire size they have tons and tons over there that run 18s. Im planing on running 18s myself real soon.

There's more to it than tire size alone.

What spacers did you use? I have the same rim/tire set but have the rubbing problem too

Thanks for the input guys! I didn't respond right away because I was later notified that night that he sold the rims :-\ Too damn bad too - 5 wheels AND tires, he was local & asking $400 OBO! GRRRR lol

psycho2100: I've actually been keeping my eye out for SRT4 wheels (with tires) for a good deal but no one seems to ever want to sell or trade them. My factory 14" or 15" 7 spoke, whatever size they are, are in excellent shape - I have two brand new winter tires on the fronts and the rear tires have probably at least 7/32 tread left. Plus I still have the front tires that came w/ the rear (also 7/32) and would be willing to trade someone local with my wheels & tires plus maybe give 'em a couple hundred but no one seems to want to....*shrugs* oh well...

if yer still looking for rims...

just remember, and I didn't see it mentioned here yet... when looking for rims that fit... a big factor is the "off-set"... that will dictate whether you need spacers or not...much better if you find rims that fit without spacers

I think a good standard offset for stock Neons is around 36 to 40 (?)

so 5x100, great... size; 18's?...ok for show, not great for performance or ride... and looking for rims from friends or Craigs list type deals, probably not gonna know or list the off-set

I picked up 16's, 38 offset, with 205/50's...rims and tires...and mounted for me, so if they didn't fit it was on them...for around 600 to 650 a couple years ago... (Discount Tire)
