took my 02 neon LE off the road last semester of school and now it is having trouble starting.

--- what i have done so far was; checked the spark plugs and one was submerged in oil. so after taking the spark plug out and cleaning it up the car started although i had to keep my foot on the gas for it to stay running. then it appeared that my fan belt (which was screeching) started to smoke.

if any one has any suggestions of what i should do from here, it would be greatly appreciated, just trying to get the car back on the road for the summer season. thanks for you responses.

 

If your belt is "screeching" then one of your pulleys is most likely seized. Take the belt off and spin the pulleys. It should be evident which one is the culprit.
