you cut your cold air intake piping just beyond where your sensor plugs in. What it is for is say like in my case i live in florida and when it rains it pours. If my or your filter just gets full of water instead of your tb sucking air into your engine it rerouts where it pulls the air from. Which in case with the bypass valve is located in a dry area so thats where the air is pulled from. Granted you will be pulling hot air from your engine bay but its alot better than hydrolocking your car right? lol you can get them off ebay for like 25 bucks after shipping and handling or you can get it from AEM for 50. All in all its to stop your car from hydrolocking if your filter is full of water or gets wet.

Yeah sounds great the by pass valve and love the viper kit. Always wanted one of those little filters might try that bypass valve . I also going to get one of those filter covers from injen to protect my filter from any water.

why not just go with a short ram intake then?

lot less cost, ya don't have to buy a bypass vlave, yer air filter is inside the engine bay, up high and out of harms way..and you have to go thru all that piping install..(?)

Looks better too..and most all the SRT engine bays I've seem have the air filter inside the supposedly "so hot" engine bay...?

Oh so if you have a short ram intake than you cant use one of those little filters crap I think the filter cover will work just nicely for protecting from the rain more anyways plus it looks pretty cool the injen cover.

I suppose if you think unfiltered air is better than warm air...

How does your bypass valve know when to draw air from the engine bay and not the filter?

I have seen alot of neons and srts with the bypass valve but I have a short ram intake so the cover is better for my filter to protect from water.
