Default 2001 neon se with a clunk in the rear.

Okay when i hit bumps with my neon, randomly it clunks from the rear.

Now i took all the tires off and had it on jackstands, and this is what i found so far. There are two bars that run to each rear tire, from the frame one of them on the rear passenger side looks bend. what are these called so i can find replacing, as well as the bushings i believe need replaced in these as well.

Now my other thought is the bushings.

as the picture shows there is what looks like a gap, but is it normal or is it wore enough that this could be my culprit of my clunk.

i'm not sure about the bushings as far as clunking. i've always known ball joints to clunk but i'm pretty sure there aren't any on the rear. i'm not sure if those are like control arms or what. And Shelby, my guess would be air lines to an impact wrench.

The blue hose looks like air hose?

Anyways, those are the rear lateral bars/control arms; depending who you talk to. They do look a little messed up from the pictures. Prothane makes poly bushings for them as well; just be sure to use every bit of grease they come with. Mine makes a squeaking noise when I brake now from them chattering a bit (I didn't use near enough grease in retrospect).

How are the bushings on the tension rods (the bars from the struts to the body I think it is)?

-Looks more like the cord from a trouble light. The noise could also possibly be a bad strut mount. Does sound come from the wheel area or up higher?

well, to clarify the blue hose, is my air hose for the impact. As for the clunk, its from the rear and it sounds lower by the wheels. The upper mounts of the struts i have checked (my mom has a stratus and had a clunk from the wheel and it was the mounting plate for the rear struts so i already checked that)

As for the tension rods the bushings look like they need changed as well, but idk for sure and i cant get any play by hand (with a small pry bar)

your control arm def need to be replaced.at least the one thats bent.they can go bad overtime or if you have a bad/blown strut.the clunk worries me more then anything though.i was driving down the road and heard a clunk, all most sounded like i was dragging something so i pulled over and seen nothing.took it to my mechanic and he said a wheel bearing went bad and my tire was ready to come off.

so if i was in your shoes i would take it to a good mechanic to replace the control arm and check the strut and clunking.theres alot of possibilities for the clunk so it would be best to get a professional look over,

Good Luck!!

Yes i would like to replace the one thats bent for sure. The problem is i am not finding any parts for rear control arm.

As for the clunk if i dont get anyway with my search it will get taken to a mechanic, i just always try and take care of it myself, and if i am left stumped, then its worth paying someone else lol.
