Looking for help electrically, 2000 Neon
yes Cam and crank sensors can fail when hot and work fine cold.
as for the asd failing under heat is possible but ez to rule out, just swap another relay in its place
given the info so far i'd be inclined to look into the cam sensors mag field breaking down due to heat (just my 2 cents)

by Mag Field i was referring to the Magnetic field(or force) created by the sensor.
electro magnets(cam/crank sensors) create a magnetic field and when a piece of steel or another magnet pass by it disrupts the magnetic field, telling the computer the required info. After time these sensors can break down due to heat or vibrations or just plain age, thus making erratic or inconsistent info for the computer.
the magnet/or steel trigger that is imbedded in the cam is a seperate piece, although not impossible to fall out, it is unlikely. (especially cuz u say car will work again when cools off, if the cam's indexing magnet/or steel button fell out it would NEVER refire.)
Im heading down the path of a failing sensor, verify integrity of the sensors wiring before replacement.

Thanx hemi...I've read alot on these forums, etc. that I should purchase mopar parts (I'm referencing the cam sensor now) because aftermarkets just don't cut it. Is this an absolute or can I get a non OE sensor and feel kinda confident with it? I get all my parts when ordered off internet from Rockauto and have been completely satisfied with their quality and service. This car is used with mucho mileage and don't want to sinks loads of money for parts into it.
I myself prefer OEM sensors but aftermarket ones do work.
believe it or not some aftermarket products are better than OEM (no grease fittings on stock joints)
buy what you can afford, an aftermarket sensor that works beats a dead OEM one anyday.
