Talking Question About Catbacks/Open Headers

Hey everyone.

I have a 2005 SXT and right now the only non-stock elements to my car are all cosmetic besides a Magnaflow muffler on stock piping.

I was wondering if any of you have a catback exhaust on your car, and what your opinions of the sound are, in respect to both the volume and pitch. I'm looking to get a louder sound, and maybe deeper pitch if possible, out of my car.

Recently I've been looking at doing a highflow catback with 3" piping, but I was at an exhaust shop and the guy working there mentioned the possibility of doing open headers. Has anyone done this and your thoughts please?

And finally, when looking at aftermarket headers, I've heard that the Magum headers off of the R/T are the best value, is this true and where might I best be looking for them, a junkyard?

Thanks a bunch for your help, I really appreciate it

3 inch is way too big on a stock engine. 2 1/2 is the biggest you should use and that's still pushing it when you're stock. don't know about the rest, maybe look up videos of the different options you're thinking of.

I think my borla is a 3inch piping and yeah the magnum headers are one of the best headers I got mine from modern seeing I wanted brandnew and not magnum you can try a junk yard r/ts are rare to find sometimes.

but you also have a lot of supporting mods to justify the larger exhaust. now if the OP was going to go the turbo route soon then the 3 inch would be fine.

He must be wanting to do some mods seeing hes askin about headers and with them you can run the 3inch with no problem and dont have a turbo just yet just everything else to get ready for a hahn turbo kit.

3" is too big on any N/A 4 cylinder engine IMHO.

Well they run 3inch all the time on srt4s and some other neons that have heavy mods.
