Default problem with code!!!

I have a 2003 Neon and code reads p0016. Changed cam and crank sensor and cleared the code but it keeps coming back and ck engine light stays on. Is there something I'm missing?? Engine runs fine.

That code isn't for the sensor. It is a misalignment code. How many miles are on the engine and has the timing belt ever been changed if over 100K miles? The most likely scenario is the timing belt jumped a tooth.

That's what I thought it could be. I just didn't want to hear it. Is there a inspection port to see the timing marks?? If so where?? Thanks

I believe there is on the cover. Never checked myself though.

Took it to shop and had it checked--timing dead on. Had them replace belt anyway. Anyone else have issues like that. Car runs good but misses or idles rough for a few seconds at a full stop and hesitates on acceleration. Anyone have a idea?? Thanks

i think ive read something like this before where the cam sprocket locating sheers off or partial and allows the cam sprocket to skip a tooth but still align as if the marks were right. i read it on the web , ill try and find the article but this could be a possibility

i found it , its a bit different in the complaint but it explains what happens with the locating pin and how it can fool you on the timing marks
