ok so my 03 neon se has made a noise for the longest time , im a mechanic by trade but ive never heard a noise like this before. It sounds like a fluttering noise , not an exhaust leak , i have lived with the noise for many many miles , it happens cold or warm in every gear and park or neutral and reacts with engine rpm and ive narrowed it down to the transmission but even in park and neutral there should be no rotating parts in the trans. i have an idea it may be the pump since it sounds like a p/s pump but its without a doubt in the trans. the car has no ill affects and has run perfect for 74k but this noise is starting to **** me off. i cannot find any info for a noise like this even with my resources.( fluttering). has anyone had a noise like this before? ive described it as a old printer , my co workers say it sounds like a choo choo train and flock of butterflies , (********) , lol ,.
