Default PCV valve grommet question

Ok, so I replaced the PCV valve today because I don't know the last time it was changed, and it seemed like a good time to do it. So I removed the old one and noticed it wasn't screwed on tight. I installed the new one, and while tightening it, the grommet or whatever it is that the valve screws into popped out of place. I pushed it back into place as best as I could, and it seems to be holding. Is this something that will cause problems and should I try to find one and replace it? Thank you for your replies.

The only real fix I'd think would be to replace the VC if it is messed up. I didn't even know there was anything that could pop out.

The valve cover seems fine, there is just a small metallic piece that the PCV screws into. I guess I will just keep an eye on it. BTW, my car has a manufacture date of 6/99, so I don't know if they changed anything for the later built neons.
