My son picked up a 2002 RT with a broken timing belt, We are current in the process of finding parts, there is some confusion.
1) I have read that the valves are the same in both RT and non-RT engines?
2) Are the timing belt, the tension pulley and water pump the same? Some parts stores list the kits as compatible for both and some don’t.

I don't know about #1, but #2: they should be the same. According to Rock Auto, the same kits interchange for the SE, SXT and R/T. You can head over to Rock Auto and check it out yourself.

 

Thanks for the reply, the timing belt and water pump do appear to cross to the same numbers. As far as the valves, I believe they are also the same in the two heads but have still not been able to verify for sure. There also appear to be two styles of valves with different keepers (1 groove and 3 groove).
