I have an 04 Neon SXT which I recently bought used, as far as i know it has the stock parts. I am planning on replacing all 6 speakers as well as adding a subwoofer into the trunk. Its my first car and I dont know anything about working on them or wiring speakers.

I am wondering how much power the car can handle and wether or not itll damage anything like the alternater or drain the battery. I only plan on using the stereo while the car is on. Also any information on the size of the speakers already in the car would be helpful so i dont have to take them out to find out. My guess is ill need a new stereo reciever to do all this, as iv read the stock one is only 17W per channel. I am looking to get replacements from 40W-150W. Any help or advice is much appreciated
