2005 Dodge Neon SXT accelerating really loud.. motor mount?
I changed the two struts first, then we changed both motor mounts. After doing the struts, the engine got much worse because basically, one size of the engine was basically lifted back where it should be (almost). we did the easier of the two mounts first (tranmission). it got much better, but still not 100%. for the mounts, i used a family mechanic, so he lifted up the passenger side of the engine (engine mount) and that's when all the exhaust noise went away. my car sounds and feels great now. EXCEPT for the super low idling. the closer it gets to 500, the rouger the idle gets at stops (stop light). my mechanic said it's probably from gas with ethanol in it (they do that in oklahoma). so i've been using only 100% and when i run my a/c it's not bad. i'm going to have to use a fuel injector cleaner (again) and maybe replace my fuel filter, if that's possbile.
if you have someone rev your engine, you can see the strut movement on top if it is bad. as for the mounts, you can't tell until you actually get IN the engine, which is a pain. I paid $500 for all four mounts (struts), along with labor to replace two of them & 2 new belts, that had never been replaced.

My 2005 sxt has recently gotten very loud. Codes 0456 and 0304 are showing. Can you tell me at what milage your belt broke and how the car was acting before?
