RE: fuel trouble
Check the fuel filter. Once those things clog up, milage goes way down. You should also notce a lack of power.
If you have never changed it, check the service manual. I have found on most cars you need to change them at least according to the schedule, if not sooner. No telling about gas these days as the price goes up.

RE: fuel trouble
I recently bought a 2004 dodge neon sxt, also. My fule mileage is the same. I drive both city and freeway. And I don't gunn it. I only get about 179 mph in town and 220 on freeway. I should at the very least be getting some where around 320 on the freeway and 280 in town. Again it is a 12 gallon tank. And I have read the reviews and they say it should get 29mph in town and 36mph on the freeway. I think something is wrong. I'm taking it in to have them look at it.
Is yours under warranty? i would take it in.
