They aren't that much of an inteference engine......

I have run up to +5 degrees advance cam timing with no issues. +3 degrees is sweet spot though for the sohc.

Only time you would need to retighten is if doing a manual tensioner conversion, the hydraulic self adjusts.

The manual I would only bother with in high performance applications where you don't want to leave a hydraulic piston to chance......

They are to where if the timing belt breaks while driving, SHTF. For most Neon's, putting it in the marked location is just fine.

An NGC computer benefits little to none from a cam gear though...like most of the engine mods.

I was just pointing out that even if you were a tooth off nothing will happen....

I think you'd be surprised at how much cam timing can make a diff with the "proper" control.

I understand what cam timing is and does (I changed the timing on my Mustang for awhile, but put it back to stock as I got tired of buying premium, lol), but the NGC system will override/alter other parameters to try to "make things normal." That is what I have always read about that system anyways.
Someone who had an adj. cam gear on their NGC car said it was basically a show piece until they ditched the NGC all together.

Agreed, but then again you've already read about me revving to 8000, which is impossible without external control or a race PCM

Don't recall reading that, but two things: you've got a manual (it doesn't have the restrictions an auto does) and you have a pre-NGC car that has less restrictions than an NGC car.

True.

Megasquirt will eliminate any NGC issues

That's the favorite by far...and way too far for my Neon. Not going anywhere near that route with the 4-banger, lol.
