Strut replacement issue
I have a 2002 SXT and I replaced the front struts a couple of weeks ago (Monroe Sensa-Trac). I wasn't hearing anything at first but after a little while I started to hear a grinding noise when I turned the wheel when driving at slow speeds or parked and turning the wheel back and forth. I thought the the main strut mount bolt was not completely tight. This was not the case. I found that the spring was binding, had my wife turn the wheel while I looked at the spring.
So I took the strut off again and had to rent the spring compresser a second time. I purchased a new strut mount just in case but ended up not using when looking at the old parts again. I figured the strut was not alinged properly the first time with the spring. Bad assumption...
Question, I forgot to mark where the spring was positioned relative to the strut assembly. Does this matter? I am now getting a spring/clunk noise when going over speed bumps. The noise when turning is not as bad as it was but the noise when going over speed bumps is now new. Thanks
