Default what do you think

I have a 2004 neon 2.0 with that said I now have a bad cat converter. I live in Florida and have no emissions here so would anything bad happen to the car if I remove the converter from it and would the check engine light go out or stay on.

Ok another question?... I was told that code 420 could also be a 02 sensor, do you think or have you heard of it...

Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold. If you are sure you have a bad catalytic converter, that is probably causing the problem and could potentially be ruining the downstream O2 sensor as unburned A/F is getting through the cat (what it is designed to burn up) and coating it.

P0420 could be caused by a bad/leaking exhaust manifold, pipe or cat, bad O2 sensor. You could remove the cat and try putting the rear O2 sensor in a spark plug anti-fouler to see if it'll keep the light off. It usually works, but not always. A for-sure way would be to wire in a resistor. There's a thread somewhere around in which someone wired one in.
