Default 05 SXT radio questions

Hi there. I have a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT and currently have the factory radio. The one with the CD player, no disk changer.

I'm interested in getting and installing an after market radio, but wasn't sure if there were limits on which radios I can get, or even what the dimensions of the 05 SXT radio actually are.

Also, for anyone who may have switched out their radio already, do you have any advice for the face-plate thing? I'm worried a square radio would look kind funny in my dash and was wondering if there was a face-plate or something that would go over it and make it look less sticking-out-like-a-sore-thumb-ish?

You buy a radio installation kit and it will make an aftermarket radio fit.

Darth is right. Get a single din Chrysler radio kit.

Also, don't cut your factory wiring harness. Get the adapter.

I know i bought mine from crutchfield, and they included all the installation accessories (dash kit/trim ring, wire harness, antenna adapter, and vehicle specific instructions.) in the cost of the unit.
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KDC...5.html?tp=5684 <- Newer version of what i have($119 Free shipping, lifetime tech support, free installation gear & vehicle specific instructions)

and honestly, having installed 1 stereo myself before, (about 10 yrs prior) from opening the box, to Rock'n & Roll'n down the highway, i was done in less than an hour (including soldering the harness connections together.)

why on earth would someone cut the harness in this day & age? wiring adapters are available @ most any "big box" store that sells cheap car stereos.....

Some probably feel cutting the factory harness and soldering the new harness in is the "right" or "best" way to do it. To each their own.

When I bought my Neon, all the wires were cut. I'm not sure if the radio was stolen, or the previous owner cut them, but it made installing my new radio much more of a pain than it needed to be.

i can only imagine... I had one car stolen, and yeah, it looked like they had just ripped the stereo out, when i went to get the new one installed, the guy... from the look on his face you could almost see him scream/cry inside when he saw the wires in the dash...
