How are your front tires wearing?
The reason I ask, is, I am getting a lot of wear on the outside edge of the passenger front tire. I had it in for an alignment, and before I took it in, I put the rears on the front so as to have nice flat even tread on front for the alignment. Car was good, and within spec, so they did nothing. I put the tires back on the way that they were, because I want to solve the problem before I sacrifice another tire to the front end of the car. I even tried upping the front tire pressure from 32 to 40 psi, hoping that the center would wear more than the outer edge-no good. I still have about 4/32 tread in the center, and very little on the outside edge. I figure about 5,000 miles/2 months- and I'll have to replace them, regardless. The Driver side front tire IS bad, and has a vibration to it that cannot be balanced out, even with a Hunter road force machine, but, wears nice and even. I don't think that that would cause wear to the Passenger side tire. All I can figure to do is swap them from side to side and see what happens. Anything I am missing?
Tread wear/depth won't affect an alignment (at least, I wouldn't think so based on how it's done). I had a problem with my car going out of alignment after a month or two. You need to check to two items that control/hold the alignment for wear: tie rod ends and ball joints.
my tires are wearing on both in/outside edges i know i need an alignment but i also need new control arms, i was told thatreplacing the control arms also replaces the ball joint, so perhaps thats what you need as well??
i have the same problem..275/5520 on my hemi..i had them all at 40 psi at first..i went down to 37psi..manual says 35psi..the front tires r wearing on the outside edge, but the rears r wearing fine..shall i up the tire pressue back up to 40psi all around?
just had a alignment when i put on the tires..ill see if its wearing on the inside to is so..what could it be? struts ball joint bushings?

I had an alignment done, but my suspension parts were worn so in just over a month, my alignment was back out (of course the guy said he had no idea what would cause that, so I figured it out by myself). It would, IIRC, be caused by bad ball joints. Do you have factory wheels and size tires?
You can jack up the front tires and check for a bad ball joint by grabbing the top and bottom of the tire and push and pull. Feel for play. That's what I always see on the internet. The easier way to tell is if you hear a clunk noise from the front, usually when going over something like a speed bump in a straight line.

Tie rod inners and outers were done approx 30,000 miles ago w/Moog Greasable, and show no signs of slop. Could be ball joints, as they have never been done, but they have NO play when the car is up, and the wheels jerked around on. I am wondering if the camber bolt has been worn beyond spec? Front struts are original, also, but it does not bounce much when going over bumps, and returns to position right after you bounce the front corners a couple times. I've had bad struts in other vehicles before, they either lock up solid (Ford escort wagon rears) or go completely soggy (Dodge shadow fronts) My Neon's are nothing like either of those. I know my miles are high, but I can't stand throwing parts at something in hopes that it cures the problem. Not a money issue as much as I don't like wasting my time on non cures.
