Default Key Question...

When I purchased my 2005 Dodge Neon SXT, it came with only one ignition key and no remote. From reading posts I know that I will have to go to a dealer or a locksmith with the appropriate tools to encode any new keys/remotes that I purchase.

My question is about the trunk key. Was this a separate key or was it the same as the ignition key? The reason I ask, is my ignition key will not work in the trunk key, although it will fit.

It's not a big deal, but I would like to have access to the trunk via the key, just in case it is needed.

Thanks

Same key, someone may have replaced the lock, or installed a J/Y trunk lid. Dealer will sell a new lock cyl. and key it for you. I think mine was $90.00 keyed. Changing it is not very time consuming, it took me about 45 minutes, but I did not reinstall any of the trim that I removed.
