Default 2k SE, Gearshif **** help

Im sure this has been asked a billion times, but I'm on a crappy PDA right now and search doesnt seem to work properly on this. How in the WORLD do you get the gearshift **** off. I thought perhaps that it is a twist-off, but apparently not. I'm sure I can get it off, but I dont want to Hercules it and risk breakage. Thanks!

Push down on the ***, then turn it. U should feel it sink down alittle bit then stop. Just do it, youll figure it out. Its cake. I ran into the same prob, but I figured it out eventually...lol. The spring might be tough to push down but youll get it.

It was pretty easy for me. Exactly how 01ACR said. Push down and turn left.
