Default 3 spd worth it?

hey everyone, i have a 2001 neon SE with a 3 speed auto, and i would like to get some performance parts for my car, for cheap. so far i want:

cold air intake
better exhaust
venom 400 pcm (actually made a difference on my friends neon)

not sure what else at the moment. BUT would it be worth doing on a 3 speed tranny? or should i just sell the car and fine one with a 5 speed? im unsure if il actually see power gains with this 3 speed. it kinda kills the acceleration..

im not an expert, but im learning. i like good 0-60 times. dont care about top end right now.

You aren't going to get good 0-60 times in an 4 cylinder econobox on the cheap.

You can buy shift kits for the 3-speeds...

Here's a how-to: http://ripcuda.50megs.com/shift.html
You can search the internet for 31TH shift kits. You should be able to find something

Hahahahaha.. Sorry, I have the 3 speed and know this car doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of a 0-60 in 7 seconds without boost. Even at a 2k-2.5k launch, no muffler, high flow air filter, me manually shifting at 6,500 RPM, no carpet, nothing in the trunk, no PS/AC belt, and not much crap inside the car my best 0-60 when it was 70* was like 9.8 seconds. These cars have no low end torque, and even with those mods, your WHP will only be around 100 and WTQ won't be a whole lot higher and it won't peak til 5k RPM or so. I've been wanting to do the shift kit but can't risk being out of a DD. Not trying to be a dick, just some info from someone who has the 3 speed. Either a manual swap or trading it for a Neon with a manual will drop 1/4 mile times by about a second. Not bad, eh?

thanks both of you, thats why i had questions about just swapping it for a 5 speed neon and getting it over with. then getting performance parts for the new one. instead of wasting my money on the 3 speed.
