My heater core sprung a leak just the other day, luckily it can be "bypassed"...

Search the forums man, there are plenty of other heater core threads...here is a summary:

A new core is only around 60 bucks or so apparently, so the remaining majority of that price is probably for the "6.2 hours" of labor it takes to just get to the part.

The last couple repair for my Neon in the past year sum to 4k, so I've officially spent more than my car is now worth. I am in the same boat too, so I really want to repair this myself... I've read that some people have managed this repair without removing the dash somehow, but nobody has any details. I'm looking into using some kind of reliable leak sealing "additive" or product I can somehow pump through the heater core and plug leaks in tubing...if this actually worked well, I'm sure people would have mentioned it in threads.

Good luck to others with this issue.
