Default 05 Neon won't start

It all started about a year ago, my car started spitting and sputtering for a few days and then one day I went to start it up and it wouldn't start. I've tried almost everything to fix it (well my boyfriend and his dad). We've changed the fuel pump, the plugs, wires and coil pack. We've checked the timing and battery and changed the cam-shaft position sensor and still it's not starting. It's getting fuel and sparking but it just won't start. It seems like we've tried almost everything but still no luck. What do you think it could be?

An engine needs 3 things to start.

1. Fuel+Air mixture.
2. Spark
3. Compression

Which one are you missing?

Check for compression.
Clean the idle control valve.
You said you are getting gas, and fire but still, you should check for all fuel injectors. If one is not spraying out gas then you need to replace it.

If you have an OBDII scanner, plug it in and scan for trouble codes. It doesn't tell you exactly what went wrong, but you can guess from there.

When you turn the key on (to start position), does the engine crank at all? If it does not then it's the engine starter.

If the car has been in the garage for a long time, it's hard to start it up so try a few times.

Does the engine start at all? or it died after it started?

Have you done the key code jingle yet, where you see any codes in the mileage read out? Once it starts dump in a can of sea foam too if its sat more then 5 months with old gas, amazes me how fast gas can go bad these days in a sealed tank
