The Generation of NGC


I was thinking about doing engine mods to my 03 Neon R/T but with the NGC issue I might stick my money into suspension and exhaust. The funny thing is that some people have done engine mods to there 03+ Neon's with some success. Is it that people take what they can get or are they finding ways to get around the NGC issue. Please reply with your success and failures storys.

 

What NGC issue? What is that?

 

NGC -- Next Generation Computer. ECU

From 2003 to Present Dodge has been putting these in. After you engine mod the NGC will adjust after awhile back it the way it was stock.

 

it all depends if you still have any warrenty or not. If you do, then I would watch out what mods you do to the engine that might void it. Personally Id go with a nice 17inch wheel & tire package (cuz lets face it, rims make any ride look nice by themselves) then Id prolly go with a good intake and exhaust. all 3 of them should put you in the $1K range. Maybe a bit more, but itll be really close.

 

I agree with the post above mine. Rims, tires, intake and exhaust.

 

But if the NGC will correct some of your engine mods then why not but in suspension or Interior mods. Unless you are happy with what you get which I hear is increased HP at first then a gradually decrease back to somewhat normal. One of the main reasons that I asked the poll is to find if people took what they can get out of the engine mods or did something else with their money. Other the new tires on my car it is stock, but making the right choices is something that I am very interested in.

 

personally i did wheels, tires, intake, exhaust first. stuck with that..... until someone releases a new pcm for neons
