Carpet Removal

So I'm trying to figure out what all I need to remove the carpet out of my neon. I know I need to take out the seats and center console.
I let my husband borrow my car for the past week while his truck was in the shop. I'm a full time student and SAHM so I really didn't need to use it. Well he's been filling up the backseat with his leftover trash from lunch etc and has been leaving the windows rolled down and letting the carpet get wet.
So this morning I needed to run to the store and noticed there was a towel on the drivers seat because the seat was wet and it smelled so bad and there were tiny flies buzzing around.
The carpet in the back was infested with maggots.
I've taken out all the trash and tried vacuuming up the carpet but I would feel so much better if I just took it out and scrubbed it clean and cleaned underneath it.
Heck I might splurge and buy new carpeting. I just need to figure out how long this project is gonna take, if I can do it myself and if I can get all the maggots and water out.
I am so pissed off at my husband and he is never allowed to borrow my car again. I figured if I can't salvage the carpet maybe buying pink carpet and finish the transformation to a hello kitty car.

I think that should pretty much cover it. You may have to take off a few scuff plates but it should be pretty obvious once you get into the job what needs to be removed to take the carpet out.

It's not something someone with a little mechanical back ground can't handle.

Remove front and rear seats. Remove rear seat brace (you'll need around a T45 or T50 torx bit socket and a breaker bar to do so). Remove the center console. Make sure you pull the parking brake handle ALL the way up. It'll make the center console removal and installation much easier; trust me. Remove lower trim (you'll need around the same size torx bit socket to remove the lower seatbelt bolt; I bought a set at the local parts store for ~$10 and the sizes range from I think T10 to T55). Once you get all of that out, you'll have to cut the carpet under the dashboard. Best to do it under the center so when you put it all back together, no one will ever know or see it.

Thanks. I wish I had read about the torx tips sooner because now I've got a car without seats or center console and no torx tip to get the seat belts off. :c Waiting to hear from my fil to see if he possibly has a set I can borrow/ bring to me lol.

My husband thinks I'm crazy for pulling everything out but I'll find any excuse to pull my toolbox out and take stuff apart.

Well, kudos to you! It's invaluable to be able to take your own car apart and put it back together again!
