Default torqe strut

does anyone know how to replace the torqe strut on a 2004 Neon. I have looked at the local libray's all data and it looks like it is missing, a lot of the procedure. That it take to remove the torqe strut i have also been told that it is a good idea to repolace the timming belt while i am in this far. Is it possible to have valve damage due to the belt breaking ?

The two torque struts are two bolts. You support the engine and then undo the two bolts of the one you want to replace and then check the alignment. Are you talking about the motor mount in the middle?

OK. Then yes, if you are close to 105,000 miles (the recommended timing belt change interval), it is a good idea to do all of that at the same time. The middle mount is the last thing to come out before the timing belt. No point in doing all of that labor twice. And yes, if the timing belt breaks, there is a 99% chance the pistons will bend the valves and make an expensive repair.

More than just the timing belt should be replaced though. I also recommend replacing the middle mount with an OEM unit. Aftermarket mounts are not fluid-filled like the OEM ones and will cause excess vibration in the car.

The factory shop manual I have linked in my signature is free. Besides that, I use Mitchell1. I'd go with AllData over Chiltons (if you are talking about the basic $15 book at parts stores).

I changed that link, but I guess I did it in a way that the code didn't like. It is fixed now.

If you're going to do the timing belt you should do the water pump too.. I didn't when I did my belt and I have a feeling I may regret it down the road.
