Cool 05 Dodge Neon Temp Needle Bouncing

Howdy guys,

I have a 2005 Dodge Neon Sxt, I recently had a really nasty problem with my engine overheating. Turns out, I had a cracked head gasket. Got it repaired, also got a brand new thermostat. The car drives fine now, but I have noticed that my temperature needle now goes to the halfway mark and sometimes a slight tick above it, not a lot though. After a while of driving, it goes down under the halfway mark and then slowly bounces back up to the halfway mark and like a said the slight tick above it, only to gradually come down again after a couple of miles. I do not know how bad my previous thermostat was, but it used to not do this. What you people think? I think it might be air in the system. Let me know if there is anything I can clarify.

Check that your radiator fan is coming on.

Yup, fan kicks on while idling. Should have put that in my original post. When sitting and the car is on the temp needle sits at the halfway point and does not move.

Definitely make sure that there is no air in the system.
