Default Have to crank twice

Hi guys. I have a 2001 dodge neon rt and for probably about the last 20,000 miles it has had this issue where you have to crank it twice to get it to start. The first crank typically just wont start it but if you stop and crank again it will start right up. It hasn't gotten any worse or anything but just stayed where it is. If it has been running recently then it will sometimes start on the first but it depends. It also gets a little worse when it is low on gas. I tried to do some searching and I am thinking it is the fuel pressure regulator, but before I go throwing around money on potentially unnecessary parts I wanted a second opinion. Also my fuel mileage isn't the greatest if that helps (22 or 24) Thanks guys!

Sounds like a possible fuel pressure regulator. Have the pressure checked and you'll know.

Thank you! is it advised that I take it to a shop to have the pressure checked or can I do that myself? I have heard that the kit to check it is really expensive.

If you aren't familiar with what needs to be done to do it, either take it in or find a friend that knows, IMO.
