Default Fuel Filter replacement

Hey yall!
Is there a recommended replacement interval for the fuel filter? I have a '00 Neon and I picked up a few years ago and dont know if the filter's ever been changed...I'd like to maximize my fuel efficiency so I think thats a good place to start.. i also replaced the plugs and wires a few years ago which also corrected a couple other problems... also, what are some other suggestions to maximize efficiency? Im gonna be replacing the tires here soon as well as getting an alignment too...car pulls to the left pretty bad

Thanks!
Matt

They are non-serviceable. It is built into the pump assembly. If your car is out of alignment, that will tremendously help your MPG's. Check your air filter too.

Stock air box works good though Want a cheap CAI? Drill some holes in the bottom of the factory air box. Will do the same thing for free. Just a thought. These days, I'm all for saving money where I can. You can also remove the air silencer box. It's behind the driver's side headlight in the 1/4 panel area. Big black plastic thing.

Are your struts actually bad? If so, replace them before the alignment (sounds like you know this already). You want to lower it?

No not considering lowering it... just replacing the struts. I took it in for an alignment not too long after I got it becasue the wheel was shaking back and forth... just took it to a Lentz down the road and told them to align it... came back at me with a $1000 quote to do the struts all around.. said they were bad.... they clunk quite a bit... I have never done struts on a vehicle, only shocks... but my buddy is a licensed mechanic so I will be able to do them w/ him.. just need some good options.

If you don't want to lower it, no reason you can't go with stock ones. However, I'm not sure how much factory ones run (I'm sure it's more than $250 for four aftermarket ones though), but if they are more expensive than say the KYB or Tokico HP struts, then I guess why not go with performance ones? I'd go with them in that order, personally; KYB then Tokico. Modern Performance has them for right around $250 for a set of four.

Any suggestions on where to get spring / strut assemblies? Im talkin the struts that come w/ the springs in place so I dont have to worry about compressing the current ones and killing myself lol

That I don't know. It'd probably be cheaper just to take them to a shop and have them move the springs over if it's something you don't want to deal with.
