Question Tranny, Torque Conv, who knows..??

Ok, So Its an automatic tranny with 70k and I was told a new torque converter. Anyways say I'm going 40mph for a mile then I let off the accelerator( do not brake - let it coast) and around 25mph I can feel it kick down and slow me down.... what is that? and is that normal? The car is a SOHC and has new timming belt and acc. belts..

Sounds more like a TCM problem.

Well, the atx in our cars is definitely not my expertise. I drive a standard :P. But things to check would be tranny fluid and quality (should be cherry red and translucent), shift linkage, the cable that goes from your throttle body to your tranny (I can't think of what it's called), and if you have any error codes.

To check for codes, put the key in with the door shut and turn the key from off to on three times (on-off-on-off-on). Write down any P codes it might have. Or take it to an autozone to see if you have and TCM codes stored. Like I said, I have an mtx, so I'm not too familiar with FWD atxs.

Might be a temporary spazzing out of the TCM/Solenoid Pack, or you just might need a new solenoid pack.
