Default Cluster swap

I've got an 02 and I'm not happy with how it looks I'd love to swap it with a newer one from like an 05 I'm curious if it will drop right in with no problem or would I have to move wires around and change connectors

Take the old one out, plug the new one in. Swapped the cluster from my 2000 with one from a 2003.

Yup, that's the reason I swapped clusters.

Yep. Your mileage won't transfer over, though.

so if I do this I will finally have a tach?
The only thing I would need to do is write down the exact miles pre swap correct?

Yes. I have heard a dealership (or a shop with the DRBIII) will correct the mileage as long as it needs to go up. They obviously cannot legally rollback the mileage.

there's a crack on YouTube for changing this models cluster mileage, I saw a while back. Could never figure it out on my original so I never swapped them out. Has anyone changed the back lighting any here?

Yes, I have. It's really easy. Although some model years use hard wired sockets. You can change the sockets all you want, but you can't take out the b ulbs as easily. I just order some aftermarket twist sockets and installed 20SMD LEDs.

You can change it to blue or green just by changing the bulbs. Any other color, and you'll be sanding the cluster.
