2003 Dodge Neon SXT Idle Problem

Default 2003 Dodge Neon SXT Idle Problem

I have a 2003 Dodge neon SXT manual, it has 196k on it also has exhaust has stock intake but the filter cover is off and a cheap CAI filter is in there also has MSD ignition and wires. It has a check engine light that was on for TPS and it used to idle at 3k RPM's. I went ahead and replaced the sensor and turn off the Engine light. I have driven about 250 miles still no check engine light. When I first start the vehicle is idles fine but when warm it like to go from 1500-2000 and sometimes when cold if I put my foot on the brake it will also Idle to 2k then back down when I let off the brake. Any recommendations?

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Get a can of starting fluid and spray around your vacuum lines with the engine running. Spray a little at a time and if the idle changes when you're doing it, you found your leak.

make sure you do the spray test when the ENGINE is COLD. you can burn your car down with that fluid.

block off your brake booster and try it, had one car the brake booster diaphram ripped and caused the same problem
