Default Intake manifold

I happened to be at the junk yard this morning when they were bringing out a fresh row of Chrysler's, so I was the first one to jump on an unmolested 02' Neon R/T. I noticed that it has a beefy looking aluminum intake manifold. I haven't worked on any R/T's, so I'm not really familiar with all the differences. Does anyone know if that's OEM for the R/T model and would my SXT benefit any if I replaced my plastic intake with it?

Theoretically, it should bolt on. You might have to modify the way your throttle body mounts up, but theoretically it should just bolt on. Whether or not the MTV will work or not is the question, as that's what it really awesome about the R/T manifold.

MTV? Is that manifold tuning valve? I had an Intrepid that had that, but didn't know any Neons had it. I know my Neon doesn't have a connector for that, so I guess that answers my question. Thanks.

It will bolt-on, but won't provide any real benefit unless you got the valves wired up. That, and if you actually need more air flow.

This. I know that it is possible to get the valves working, though. Let me look for a write up.

There's one over on 2gn I think, or at least, a thread about it. Just remember: no clickable links to there

You can use an RPM activated switch or the R/T PCM.
