Use KBB, and Nadaguides prices as suggestion prices only.
I heard Nadaguides website was created by an auto dealership. they were created to help them dealers more then help you the consumers.
Every dealership you go to, they will tell you their prices are below KBB, Nada prices.

You want the best deal. It take times, and a lot of efforts to find one.
I only buy from dealers because they have low mileage cars, and many cars for me to look at.
When you buy from private owners, many of them are actually private dealers so, pay attention to that.
Personally, I wouldn't buy rental cars, and cars that have accidents.

Usually, a car that has the head gasket replaced is a car that has overheated. Might just be because of ages, and high mileage.
If compression is good, there is no problem with that of course. Hope no other damages, and the job was done properly.

Both KBB and NADA use [millions of] previous sales as the base for their estimates. That is why private sellers and dealerships use them to determine a suggested price for their car. Millions of sales are generally more accurate representations of correct pricing than 5 people here on DF saying "my 2001 Neon cost me $_______."

That being said, KBB (that most people seem to use) was the first valuation service of the two that began at Les Kelley dealership. NADA is the largest appraisal service around, that is also part of the National Automotive Dealer Assosciation. I can't find anything that says NADA was directly created by a dealership like KBB was.

If you look up the car on KBB and NADA, and their price is indeed lower...what's the problem with saying that?

I don't know everything about KBB, and Nada. Maybe I do more research, but I would use them to my advantage only. The dealers are smart enough to use them, too.
KBB prices aren't mean for absolute prices. I doubt about their accuracy, and I would not use their prices for comparison when I buy a car.
Talk to all your local dealers, and you will have more accurate prices for comparison.
Buying/selling a car is not an easy thing to do, it's up to you to find the best deal.
This isn't an argument between me and Darth. I have better thing to do than talk on here.

I'm not arguing. I'm simply relaying information.
