Default Need help!! Noise in rear!

My neon is a 2002 and I just had the transmission rebulit and the radiator replaced. I have only had the car for 3 months. Now there is a noise coming from the rear end. Kinda like a low roaring and it really only happens when you drive above 35 miles per hour, and gets louder the faster you go. no sounds when turning. Have done a little research and it seams like everything is pointing to a bad wheel bearing but dont know. I need to take it to have it looked at but am I gonna make it 10 to 12 miles into town for someone to look at it?? please help.

I too think a bad wheel bearing. There's not much else to make a noise back there; at least one that would be related to the speed you are going. I think you'll make it to town just fine. You've been driving it around anyways, right?

-I'd say wheel bearing too, unless it was a clunking sound. But what you described is the sound of a bad bearing. The Neons use a hub assembly as opposed to just regular tapered bearings and races. I found MOOG rear hub assembly for my '05 at Advance Auto's website for $62.99. BUT, if you've never ordered from the before online, you can knock 20% off your order by putting in P20 in the discount code box at checkout.

I need to replace one of mine ( will do both ).
Is there a "how to" guide on here? I've done traditional bearings before....not this hub assembly type though.
Thanks

Never mind...lol
I just watched a youtube vid on replacement....could not be much easier!
One question...what size is the nut? ( and do replacement bearings come with a nut?)
