How do I make my 2nd Gen neon faster.
I read their web page a few times, and I dont know why I was still a little scared to do so. Im not looking to race this car everyday, but I dont wanna destroy my car. I feel a little more confidant about installing it. Reading the info that HRC put out, they say that the kit alone will provide 8 to 10 psi. With the current mods and the camshaft, will I exceed 12 psi? Im not that experienced with turbos, I understand them but dont know if what I have might boost the car too much? I pretty that is the limit for the stock internals.
The only thing that determines the amount of boost is the turbo itself. The turbo is what creates boost. That is adjustable on the turbo, normally via the wastegate (someone who knows more will probably correct me). Things like an upgraded camshaft will not add boost, they will just allow your engine to operate more efficiently, and create more HP from the boost provided. I have no first-hand experience with this, but I believe that turbos can be adjusted either with a boost controller, or manually on the turbo itself. That is mainly why you need the boost gauge, so you know what to adjust it to. Other than that the gauge is only if your curious as to how much boost your creating at a certain RPM, or just for the 'wow' effect.
You cant "safely" run 12psi on stock bottom end, if you run that much boost you are MUCH more likely to blow your motor very quickly...the stock bottom end can handle only 250ishwhp/wtq, now...WHP is not what kills your motor, its the torque, you could have a stock 2.0 putting down 300whp and 220wtq and it would probably hold, but when you turbo these cars the WTQ will gain more than your WHP...and the torque is what breaks things, not the horse power being created.
BTW, 10psi will put you around 220whp/244wtq, which is already pretty close to the popping point...so while you could probably get away with 12psi, your sitting on a time bomb that will go off if you dont upgrade the internals.

Thats crazy, I never saw it that way. From what I have read( dont remember where), it said that I can run 12 psi. Is it difficult to install. Im mechanically inclined, I work on turbo diesels, but never installed a turbo before. I have read the instructions 3 times. The company says that its about 10-12 hours. And Im still waiting on them parts that I have been missing. This **** blows cuz I ordered the kit when I was deployed. I kinda figured that maybe they would have cut me a little slack. Them bastards, lol. So what kind of turbo are you aiming for? Are you pieceing it together or buying a kit?
It shouldnt take you more than a weekend, working at a comfortable pace to install everything if you know your way around your car. Like I said, you "can" run 12psi, but its only a matter of time till your engine expodes and you have a piston flying through your hood...i would take it to 10psi at most, which, on an SRT-4 turbo is roughly 220whp/240wtq. However, the Hahn kit uses a 16g turbo, which is slightly larger than the SRT which will make more HP per PSI...so just be carefull! Have it dyno tuned if possible, it will save you a lot in the long run!
I'm piecing my kit together, and i only have a few things left to buy, so hopefully, i'll have her boosted by the time college starts back up in a few weeks...if not, i'll have to wait another few months which i would rather not do.

Hey everyone, Im trying to sell a HRC Port Fueler Kit good for the 03-05 2.0L SOHC Neons. I got the kit when I bought my turbo from HRC. Its brand new, the only thing that is wrong is that it is missing fuel lines. I looked up the fuel lines from HRC and the complete set costs about $50. Right now Im trying to sell it on ebay for $750. The kit directly from the company costs $1200. If your interested give me a shout!
ok well here are some mods you should do first...1) cold air intake 2) headers 3) cat back exhaust...those are basics for the start...then for the handling 1) lower it 2 inches 2) strut bars 3) sway bars...then your handling will be crazy
Try an Indy intake Manifold or an extrude honed manifold from Modern performance if you have the $$$$ ,they also havre tb's ,turbo kits ect
