Monitors wont reset
2 years ago I had O2 and a catalyst sensor that would not reset even after driving the car 1500 miles after a code clear. I ended having to take my car the to dealership to reset the monitors. Which took the less than 5 min. Now after a timing belt change and my smog due again my stupid monitor sensors wont reset again. Any help would be appreciated.
need to clear a code/service light? 2 ways on the cheap.
1)pull the battery. wait 20 min. reinstall battery. should be fine untill the computer senses the problem again.
2) go to your nearest autozone. (i'm sure other parts stores offer the same service, but i know for sure AZ does.) they have a code reader, can pull/clear codes.
slightly more expensive:
Buy a code reader. you can get a bluetooth OBDII Dongle for as low as $20, all sorts of free smartphone/tablet apps to read/clear codes, and /or show you info on the fly.
or buy a dedicated reader for less than $100.
probably the most expensive:
take it to a shop and get the problem diagnosed and fixed. the light is on, b/c the computer is telling you something has wonky readings.
