ok ..I guess they dont have the external fuel filter anymore on the second gen neons....just checked the wifes 01 neon..her 1gen neon has one..but there is a filter at the bottom of that fuel pump..that could be colapsing on you or dirt in the tank...also the pump could be going bad..

I changed my fluid and filter every 48K, and still had more than a few issues. They suck (perhaps saying they are on the weaker side would be better?), plain and simple.

The main filter is external to the tank and is integral to the fuel pressure regulator. It's about $50 or less I think for the whole FPR assembly. The R&R isn't supposed to be too bad or take too long, either.

It's not your purge selinoid
don't waist your money I'm running with a leaky one for a while now with no problems. No one wants to blame alternator but I've seen crazy stuff happen and it was the alternator. After all a car won't run long without it.

because if it acts up the light would go off..plus if he got the good dash version gages he should see if there any problems..cars should be at 13-14Volts charging, anything lower you got charging problems..

Ok so have replaced the Cam shaft sensor, coolant temp sensor and the Oil pressure switch. After replacing the oil sending unit last car ran great for about 2 weeks and started acting up again. Bit of a rough idle at times and seems to be loosing power again. Not stuttering or hesitating yet. Car then proceeded to throw a P0171 and a P0128 today.. ready to burn this thing. Any thoughts on the 2 new codes? Assuming the O128 is the thermostat stuck in open position, but would that trigger the too lean as well?

I had the problem too a year ago with stalling, but it showed me the code for Cam Pos Sensor. I read here that you changed yours too and it was good for 2 weeks and it started again.
Same with mine, but the 2nd sensor I bought had a crack on the motor side after 2 weeks and oil went inside. Then I bought another Sensor and the problem was still there.
What actually solved the problem, was, that I changed the magnet on the shaft. I kept the old original sensor and put it back on and since then it runs.

Have 05 sx and caravan with same symptoms several times.
First time was spark plugs seems right around the 105000km the gap reaches its limit and engine bogs. (I do realize I should change them sooner).
car ran well for a couple weeks then acted up. One of the plugs was bad. Didnt test them just changed them again.

short while later cam sensor came up and engine bogged again. Replace sensor. Problem came back shortly after. The old sensor had been chewed away by cam so didn't take long for new sensor to be chewed up. (Should have looked closely)
Cam shaft had floated over to the sensor. I managed to loosen things and bump it back.
The Caravan acted the same way but it was crank sensor. (Proper code never appeared) Not sure if neons have crank sensors as well or just cam sensors.

not sure if it was mentioned but fuel pump ? Mine started running sluggish, then would start sometimes and then shut off.. turned out that was the problem.
