Default musty smell

hey guy's

anyone have ay idea's....

when I put the heater controls to:
blower motor to full (on heated air NOT AC)
heater to full heat
and vent position to windscreen

I get a very musky feeling, smell in the car almost chocking, like theres dust in the air.

When I then switch the circ control to re-circulate interior air (it also moves the vent position to feet and windscreen), the feeling and smell goes away

I live on Maui where it's warm all year. I wonder if the drain line for the A/C might be clogged. When I bought the car the whole inside smelled moldy. I had a leak in the tail light assembly gasket. Very common problem for Neons. After that no more leaks or moldy smells.

Never had to look it up before.... with the hood up stand in front of the oil filler cap. sight all the way back to the firewall and look down. You see s hose about 3/4" coming out of the firewall and bends down. I'm sure that is it. Make sure it's free of debris and draining good when A/C is on.....

run a can of lemmon lysol from the air vent cowl below the windshield with the sir vent on low then let it sit overnight should kill the mold if any buildup on the coil, I know it works good for smokers cars.

or you can pull that dash and get to it for a real cleaning with alcohol & pipe cleaners

hey tejas

although its very cold so I think the mould may be dead or frozen, but I'll keep an eye on it

many thanks
