The thermostat I got from autozone did not fit in housing of 05 sxt , so I went to dealer paid 2x as much and cot the same thermostat but the better gasket with the notch. It did not fit either. Both new thermostats I see are larger. So what are my options if the dealer and aftermarket are the sane and to larege? I called another dealer who had one for 3x as much as the aftermarket one, I wont go there. Did dodge change the thermostat housing?

 

Well I tried the dealer set up. Had trouble because stat kept falling out. Tightened it up, refilled and started now with more leaking out than ever from 3 sides of engine. So drain again and found the gasket was pinched near lower housing bolt. Put another gasket on and I think I got it right. No leaks have heat and no overheating. Will top off in the morning if needed and go for a ride. I hope.
