I just bought a 2000 dodge neon and the radio that was in it was flashin protect so i went to replace it which ive replaced alot of radios but anyways i took it out and hooked up my new one but i have no power running to it so i took that one back out and left the wires laying there...dumb i know...anyways i was on my way to worj today and all my interior lights shut off. I still have head lights and tail lights and 4 ways but no lights inside the car. Does anyone have any idea what may have happened or why. Did i short something out with the wires layin there. Also any help or suggestions on y my radio aint working. Could it b a short in my ground running to the radio and it shorted out mt fuses for my interior lights. Its weird 2 me though bc the radio had power untill i put in the new 1 now none even if j put in the old radio so plz help if anyone can

No prob. yes, all fuses in both fuse boxes.

 

Well i checked the fuses and it was blown also noticed the radio one was blown 2 so i replaced both. Now I have interior lights but still cant get a radio to work. Any ideas i hooked red to red yellow to yellow ans ground to ground but nothing. If i hook the red to red and i used a tester like with the light i put it in the back of the radio in the slot for the red wire and it lights up so gotta have power running to the radio rite.

 

Have you grounded the radio try that usually it will ground through antenna but not always. There may be a dedicated ground write and cutting wires from the plug really isn't a good idea. Get the radio adapter plug, Wal-Mart sells it.

 

Theres a ground in the car harness and one on the radio and i hooked them together but nothin...should i hook em together and down to the car instead of each other

 

Ground the one from the radio to the car by itself.

Well i got the car running and i got a cd player installed and workin now i need a little more help or advice...i had to install a new fuse under the hood and inside the car...well the prob i have now is that the fuse that i had to install under the hood also controlls the inside lights..what i mean is the light up on the roof and the 2 lights on the mirror...well if i plug the fuse in all 3 lights stay on untill i pull the fuse again but the issue i have with that means no radio again...so for now i pulled the bulb in the roof and disconnected the connector for the mirror but id still like 2 find the issue...any help or ideas
