2003...Head Gasket or Head?
I have a 2003 neon with the 2.0l. I have been having issues with it loosing coolant and getting hot and I think its finally hit the breaking point. I figure it is either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. I have not got any water in the oil yet. I have also not done a compression test yet or taken it apart.
Are the 2.0l heads prone to cracking? I sure hope that is not what it is but I was just checking before I tear into it. I hope to start on it tomorrow.
Thanks!
Jeff

Any head could be prone to damage if the car is overheating and still being driven. Regardless, if it's a blown head gasket, the head is coming off anyways and you'll have to make sure the head didn't warp or become damaged, amongst other things.
Ended up just being a blown head gasket. I had the head surfaced and he said it only took one .005 pass so it was not warped much at all if any. I sure hope it is fixed now!! So far it seems to be and I no longer have the gurgling after I turn it off like I had before!!
