Default Out of my element, could use some help!

Hey all, I'm a born and bred Volkswagen guy. I know pretty much nothing about Dodge cars. My wife has a 2002 Dodge Neon with the 2.0 motor that has some serious transmission issues. I've been offered a 1997 Plymouth Breeze with the 2.0 motor for free. They are both automatic. Is there any chance I can swap the transmission from the Breeze into the Neon. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hey man, I know having a ton of people view your posts and not say anything can be a little frustrating but I'm gonna give you my 2 pesos. I believe that the Dodge stratus, Dodge/Plymouth breeze, Dodge/Plymouth Neon, and PT Cruisers all share the same Transmission. (As well as the Chrysler Seabring?) The major difference would be the different gear ratio's.
DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS
I am not certified in any way and hope you do a little more research on the subject.
On a side note, I have personally taken the tranny from a 2002 PT cruiser and thrown it in my 2003 Dodge neon R/T.
Hope this points you in the right direction and good luck my friend.

For an '02, you'd need to find an 41TE transmission, I believe it is, and you should be able to use a 40TE. It's been a long time since I've gone over the transmission numbers, but I'm pretty sure those are the two transmission types used in the 2002 and 2003-2005 models.
