Default short throw shifter

does anyone know if you only need the short throw shifter itself, or are there any more parts required?

All you need is the shifter, unless you want to replace the shifter-cable bushings too (which a lot of people do).

What short shifter are you looking at? Some are just the shaft part and others are the entire shifter assembly.

I was looking at the b&m, the hurst and the mopar assembly which are all about a 120 in price so does anyone know which is better and how hard is it to change the shifter out?

I've got the mopar unit. I really like it. A much improved shift over stock shifter. It is even better with booger bushings installed. I haven't installed a B&M unit on a neon...but I did it on another car and it wasn't real hard to do. Probably took about an hour to do. I don't know anything about the hurst. The mopar unit is easy to install, can be done in about 30 minutes.
