ORIGINAL: got boost?

I tried Turbo'ing an SXT and I found out(the hard way) that the HP gains and amount of time/ $$ is not worth it. Do what I did, trade 'er in and get an SRT-4 before they are gone!! and like Adam (posthonda...) said you can mod the **** outta them with out really worrying.
Its not really that expensive to do it. There is a guy on SRTforums that did it to his SXT. I just saw his dyno for it yesterday. The car put up numbers real close to a stock SRT4. Not bad for stock bottom end and probably not spending that much on parts since most probably came off the SRT4.

Let me get this straight. You can put the SRT-4 turbo on a 2nd gen neon even though the 2nd gen is only 2 liters? If so can someone point me in the direction of a site to buy the turbo? Any pointers if i go this route?

Yeah, I would suggest you go read up on it first before you do anything. Search the web, search *******g (engine swap area), etc. The information is there. If I come across the link for you I'll post it up. I've seen it before. First thing I would do if I was you is read up and research what you're getting yourself into.

I beg to differ... i gained 99whp and 118wtq for less than $2000. $1700 to be exact. I would take the advice of other's though: If you don't know what your getting into, don't even attempt. I love my sleeper and do not regret any part of it.

And I bet you can drive it 100,000 miles without touching a thing, right? Cheap can be done. Fine. Cheap done right costs money. You can do a turbo for 1700. You do not get the upgraded brakes, transmission, suspension, however. Now try and turn that beast; what, you mean the stock wheels understeer like a mad banshee(or 185 tires don't hook up)?k - lets add wheels and tires. Now, are you telling me you can get wheels, intercooler, tires, brakes, suspension members, swaybars, calipers, and a t-850 manual tranny in there, too in your 1700$?

See cheap speed can be had. Cheap, safe(relatively) speed is a different story. What happens when you try and stop a car going 145 on brakes never intended to see over 110? Easy answer - you die.

Just a thought to consider. It is sometimes worth it to wait and do things right.

The guy already spent 16grand on a look alike. It isn't like he has a 1st generation beater that he wants to take to the strip. My advice is based on that fact. I doubt it is paid off completely, as well. If it is I stand corrected, But I wouldn't advise anyone still in payments to mod the car like that. Especially if it could be traded in for a car that will do what he is looking for without jeaprodising safety, warranty, or credit ratings.

good point...

BTW, my sxt is as reliable as your stage 2 srt... It probably gets better gas milage also. I can spend a G on a quaife, another G on breaks, my suspension and tires are fine... And i'm still in it for less than $18,000 I've driven this thin 5000 miles on this turbo set-up since june. Maybe your suggestion is right for this poster, but not for myself. My factory warranty was voided from the start. I had full bolt-ons on this car about 3 months after i bought it. I would never let anyone but myself touch anything on this car or any car of mine anyway.

The original poster should take note of all these posts and make the best descision that fits his needs, not yours or mine.

BTW, your quote: "You've just been punked by a Neon" now you know why i'd rather have my sxt over a srt-4... its hurts them alot more!

Very true, but I'd still like to be in an SRT-4...
