Just replaced the second timing belt on my 03 sxt. The first install went well considering what a pain in the Butt it is to replace. The second install went well also but now I have a whining noise. I'm thinking the belt is too tight. It's a Gates belt,tensioner and water pump. I've read everything from..it will quiet down once the belt breaks in to it could damage the tensioner as well as put too much pressure on the cam and crank bearings. I never had this noise with the first belt. Before I go through the wonderful job of taking everything apart again, I thought I would get some advice here..

 

yep, its most likely to tight. general rule of thumb someone once told me, on the longest belt run...if you can twist the belt more than 1/2 turn its to loose and less than 1/2 turn its to tight....I don't know how accurate that is but something to keep in mind.
