Default Code P0340, replaced sensor, still wont start.

2000 Dodge Neon

Car "died" and wouldn't start mid road. The scanner gave me only a single code P0340. So I went and bought the Camshaft Position Sensor. The wiring looked ok. After replacing the sensor, the car still won't start and the code P0340 still pops up.

Help.

Edit: Also, we heard a loud pop or metalic hit in the engine when trying to start it after replacing the sensor. What is that?

not sure what engine you have, but, if you have a timing belt( and it broke) that will trigger a PO340 code..
