My son has a 2000 Neon, 2.0 engine. Replaced cat con with a straight pipe to test if it was plugged. It was. A few days ago, car wouldn't accelerate so had it towed to mechanic. He said cat con was plugged. Son told him what he did and was told that there's actually two cat cons on this car. I did some research and someone asked how many there were on the Neon and answer was "one". So, Is there one or two and where are they located if there are two?

 

There are indeed two, possibly 3 according to rock auto. Take a look up under it and see. They are located on the exhaust system.

Normal models have one. "ULEV" models have two.

A ULEV model will have two catalytic converters. That's the only way to identify that I can remember. ULEV was an early 2000 MY only thing, for whatever reason.

ULEV = Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle
